Operator flashing lights

I've got a problem with the flash panel on Linux/FreeBSD machines where 
the phone indicator light flashes on and off all the time and the screen 
totally refreshes every 10seconds.  It works fine under Windows boxes on 
the same network with the same FOP installed.

I've read that it might not be connecting to Asterisk when it is doing 
this. 
Could this just happen for certain machines? 
Does the FOP try and do something on the client side and maybe 
Linux/FreeBSD is blocking that from happening?

I've tried Konqueror with Flash 6 and Firefox with Flash 7.  They load 
all the pictures, text and layout fine it just keeps flashing and I 
cannot see whos on a call or start a call.
